Judit Flamich

Born: 1999 in Hungary

Studies: Art History at University of Vienna and Painting Conservation at University of Applied Arts

Life is chaotic, colourful, spontaneous and unpredictable. I paint life. My paintings begin with observation, yet are often completed by memory. Rooted in the discipline of plein air painting, my work combines close observation with subtle distortions that transform ordinary landscapes into psychological spaces. Whether through shifting perspectives, symbolic interventions or heightened colour, I am interested in the moment when the familiar becomes uncanny.

Studying Art History and Conservation & Restoration has deepened my understanding of painting as both image and object. This awareness informs my practice, from the way I observe light and material to the way I think about painting as part of a long historical conversation.

“Judit can often be found on site with her easel. However, if you look closely at her works, you suddenly notice dystopian elements: the canvas seems to spin, the trees grow strange hands, the water seems oily. Judit creates something unique. She shows the obvious and at the same time, the unseen, which is also part of it. That is how she is found here on the platform. Or did she find you first?”
